About This Tour

A complete nine-day journey through Egypt: three days in Cairo, a flight to Aswan, a relaxed Nile cruise downstream to Luxor, and several days exploring the temples and tombs of Luxor. Private throughout, with your own German-speaking Egyptologist guide.

You see the famous highlights and the quieter sides: the Pyramids and the great museums, the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish quarters of Cairo, Philae and the Nubian villages of Aswan, and the temples, royal tombs and sunset feluccas of Luxor.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

Airport pickup and transfer to your hotel. Time to rest before the journey begins the next morning with your Egyptologist guide.

Day 2: Cairo, Pyramids and Museum

Morning visit to the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx, then the National Museum of Civilization. In the evening we explore downtown Cairo by night.

Day 3: Islamic, Coptic and Jewish Cairo

Historic mosques from the golden age, old churches and the Egyptian Museum. Optional in the evening: Khan el-Khalili and a Tanoura dance show.

Day 4: Flight to Aswan and Nile Cruise

Domestic flight to Aswan and check-in on the cruise ship. Philae temple, the unfinished obelisk in the red granite quarry, and a felucca sail to the botanical garden and a Nubian village.

Day 5: Sailing the Nile

A relaxed day cruising the Nile downstream, arriving in Luxor in the evening.

Day 6: Luxor West Bank and Museum

Valley of the Kings with three royal tombs, the nobles' tombs and the workers' tombs of Deir el-Medina. In the afternoon, the Luxor Museum.

Day 7: Karnak and Luxor Temple

The vast temple complex of Karnak and the temple of Luxor, finishing around midday.

Day 8: Hatshepsut, Medinet Habu and Felucca

The terrace temple of Hatshepsut, the well-preserved temple of Medinet Habu and the Ramesseum. In the afternoon, a traditional felucca sail to watch the sunset on the Nile.

Day 9: Departure

A free, relaxed morning before your onward transfer.
