About This Tour
The complete two-week tour through Egypt combines the cultural highlights of the Nile valley with three nights in the Siwa Oasis, deep in the Western Desert near the Libyan border.
Cairo with the Pyramids, Saqqara, Old Cairo and the museums. Then Siwa with its salt lakes, Cleopatra's Spring, the Oracle Temple of Amun, the Shali Fortress and a jeep safari into the Great Sand Sea. Afterwards Aswan with Philae and Abu Simbel, the Dahabiya cruise on the Nile with Edfu and Kom Ombo, and Luxor with the Valley of the Kings and Karnak.
Hotels, internal flights, all transfers and a licensed local guide are included. The plan can be adapted to your interests.

Two-Week Itinerary
Days 1 to 3
Cairo, Pyramids and Museums
Pickup at Cairo airport. Pyramids of Giza, Sphinx and Saqqara. Egyptian Museum, Old Cairo with the Islamic, Coptic and Jewish quarter. Khan El Khalili and Tanoura dance.
Day 4
Siwa Oasis, the Drive West
Pickup at your hotel at 5:00 AM in a private AC car. About 750 km and 8 to 9 hours through the desert, with a breakfast stop at a local restaurant around 9:00 AM. Arrival and hotel check-in around 2:00 PM, lunch at a Siwan restaurant. In the afternoon the town itself: the Siwa House Museum and the markets with handicrafts and spices. Dinner and overnight in Siwa.
Day 5
Siwa, Salt Lakes and Cleopatra's Spring
After breakfast to the salt lakes, where the salty water carries you effortlessly and the clearest lake lets you see the bottom. Bring a bottle of water to rinse off afterwards, the lakes are known for their healing properties. Then Cleopatra's Spring, a natural hot spring with mineral rich water. Lunch at a Siwan restaurant. At 5:00 PM sunset at Fatnas Island, also called Fantasy Island, over the tranquil salt lakes. At 8:30 PM dinner under the stars at a Siwan desert camp with stargazing afterwards, a swim in the warm natural spring and Siwan coffee or tea. Overnight in Siwa.
Day 6
Siwa, Oracle Temple and Desert Safari
In the morning the Oracle Temple of Amun, once a destination for pilgrims from across the ancient world, and the Mountain of the Dead with tombs of the 26th dynasty and their wall paintings. In the afternoon a jeep safari in a private 4x4 through the naturally sculpted dunes of the Great Sand Sea, with dune bashing: Cold Water Lake with its fish in the middle of the desert, remote small oases and hot springs, lunch out in the desert, the Petrified Area, sandboarding, sunset stops for photos and a Bedouin style dinner. Overnight either camping under the starlit sky or back at the hotel.
Day 7
Siwa, Shali Fortress and the Night Drive Back
Dakrour Mountain with its hot sand baths, then the mud brick Shali Fortress with the view across the oasis and the Siwan House and Museum. Lunch at a local restaurant, free time for shopping and a rest at the hotel before check out. Departure for Cairo at 6:00 PM in the private AC car, arriving around 3:00 AM.
Days 8 to 9
Aswan and Abu Simbel
Flight to Aswan. Philae, High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk. The following day the two temples of Abu Simbel.
Days 10 to 12
Dahabiya Nile Cruise to Esna
Boarding of the Dahabiya. Kom Ombo, El Silsila quarry, Edfu temple of Horus, Nobles tombs of El-Kab, Esna temple of Khnum. Quiet anchorings each night.
Day 13
Luxor East Bank and West Bank
Karnak and Luxor Temple on the east bank, Valley of the Kings and the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut on the west bank.
Day 14
Departure
Transfer to the airport for your departure.
